Ruroc RG-1 Ski and Snowboard Helmet!

February 20th, 2012 by Dave Holden

As we all try to reflect upon the mad skills of Sean White or Lindsay Vonn, one thing is apparent, we’ll probably never get to their level! But why not look good trying? As I snagged the sweetest helmet on the market, I dropped myself into a Darth Vader type aura that slapped me into a matrix atmosphere. The Ruroc RG-1 ski and snowboard helmet is like nothing else.

At first glance, you become the regular rider with a chin buckled helmet….and then waala! A chin piece that armors you. You become a fierce fighter gliding down the mountain as the abdominal snowman…or like me…a snowball needing the extra protection, EVERYWHERE!

This helmet offers ultimate protection with world leading visibility, anti fog design, and no more frozen chin! Regardless of the weather, sun or flurries, this helmet adapts quickly and effectively to what you want as a rider.

Developed on the Canadian Rockies after frozen chins, foreheads, icy eyes, and painful runs, the Ruroc RG-1 gives you exactly what you need to face the mountain demons!

Slammed with passionate outdoor enthusiasts, Ruroc is here to take the ski and snowboard helmet production to the next level.

Be your own element on the mountain and stay protected, stay warm, Ride Ruroc!

New Nike+ FuelBand!

February 9th, 2012 by Dave Holden

What is all the hype about the Nike+ FuelBand? What is it and have you heard of it yet? My first thought was it was another one of those gimmick power bracelets that supposedly gives you a source of energy or according to manufacturers, helps to optimize the natural flow of energy around the body, and so improve an athlete’s strength, balance and flexibility. Of course, I am on the side of all those skeptics out there who wonder how a wristband could possibly make you run faster, jump higher or drive faster, and believe that it is a placebo at best and a waste of money.

On the other hand, the Nike+ FuelBand seems to provide some actual numbers including time, steps taken and calories burned. Using a built-in accelerometer, this innovative device tracks not only your runs but all kinds of activities from yoga and soccer to dozens of everyday activities; however, I don’t know if I am convinced it is any better than a pedometer that you can easy pick up for way less than the $149 price tag of the Nike+ FuelBand.

On the plus side, the FuelBand allows you to easily set daily goals and it will light up from red to green throughout the day as you get closer to your goal. It’s also easy to cycle through NikeFuel earned, time, steps taken and calories burned with the touch of a button and syncs up with the Nike+ website as well as every other device out there…aka your phone!

The LEDs and flashy lights of the Nike+ FuelBand may help you stand out at the gym or help you look cool during your yoga class; however, the real question is…for $150 will this really help you achieve your fitness goals. Personally, I believe exercising daily and eating right is all you really need but it’s still pretty cool nonetheless.

There were a limited number of FuelBands available for preorder on Thursday, January 19th and those who preordered will be among the first to receive the product on February 22.

I guess time will tell how well the New Nike+ FuelBand will work. So, what do you think? Is it worth spending $150 on a fitness tracker? Should you wait for Nike to work out the bugs and flaws of the first model because you know there will be?

For more information on the Nike+ FuelBand, please visit nike.com/fuelband!

The Game of Airsoft

January 30th, 2012 by sourced

“The flash of orange is the giveaway. Federally-mandated orange gun tips might be the only indication to someone watching a game of Airsoft — a sport rapidly growing in popularity — that the mock weapons used to shoot round, plastic pellets are, in fact, replicas.”

Great article from Heather Beck at the Farragut Press about the game of Airsoft. Since there are stores that carry Airsoft equipment featured on Sportrabbit.com and a growing interest, we thought it would be great for our readers.
